Chilean student crisis

By: María de los Ángeles Miranda

Regarding the conflict of students who are living in our country, I think the Fetch not playing a good role. This was evident in the last year, the fact that go out and protest in the streets didn't solve anything. It is not enough for the authorities to take some serious action in regard to the allegations of the students.
In addition, the current leaders aren't representative and advocating for their ideals and not listen to the opinions of other students, for example private universities, which would be prejudiced because of the law that rejects profit.

I think this is a deeper issue, because if education were free, it would only be  in the state universities, so it would increase the gap between the knowledge of the students, because they would only have free education those person from private schools, the mainly reason is that  they are still the best prepared in the most basic issues. This would generate that will increase over the vicious circle that exists with the subject of education, and increase the gap between people with resources who choose private elementary and secondary education, and people with less money  who are required to access Municipal education. So...What kind of justice would be talking about here?

On the other hand, I think the theme of the protests is now a habit for them, as there are many students who don't know the reason for their objections, and aren’t fully informed about the topic. In addition, they should be aware that for protesting is hurting other people, for example to workers due to the protests lose a whole day's work that generates less revenue for the months and for their family.

For the same reason, in my view the student protests fail to deliver anything positive, also clearly have lost enough strength and popular support. I think the issue of education is so deep and important to achieve progress in our country, which requires drastic measures, but behaving likes people of the Stone Age that will not be achieved. Clearly, this is a problematic country that requires drastic measures, measures to achieve a truly difference in the Chilean culture, where the mainly focus is on the local primary and secondary education, so that, they can have a good bases  for reach an excellent education university, to prepare us as good people to work here, as in other countries.

Given the above, I think this is an issue that will be talking about it for years to come and will be a long period because there is still no consensus between students and the government, and that both parties are very closed in their thinking, so don't give chance to reach an agreement that benefits for all citizens and college students. The best way to solve a conflict is that there is a willingness to reach a consensus, so as not to affect the interests of the government, nor the students, they should all be working together in a coordinated manner so that progress and Chile recognized by the good people coming out of universities.
